Caldor Fire Rebuild Elliott Homes Ribbon Cutting Recap
What a day Monday was! HomeAid Sacramento celebrated the ribbon-cutting for the first two completed homes of the Caldor Fire Rebuild Project.
The event date, August 17, was especially poignant, as it marked five years to the day since the Caldor Fire destroyed the community of Grizzly Flats. Anticipation leading up to the event included coverage by CBS 13, featuring a documentary on the aftermath of the Fire and a field report that included one of the homeowners participating in our project.
The ribbon cutting drew a large crowd from the Grizzly Flats community and HomeAid Sacramento supporters and featured remarks from Rep. Kevin Kiley and El Dorado County District II Supervisor George Turnboo.
As the Builder Captain representative, Price Walker of Elliott Homes commented, “I’ve been involved with the construction of thousands of houses and proud of them all, but these two homes feel so different and more meaningful than any. We are so proud to be partnering with HomeAid Sacramento and El Dorado County to provide some relief to these Caldor Fire victims.”
The highlight of the event was turning the keys over to the two homeowners.
Upon entering his new home, Randy commented, “It’s the most beautiful home anyone could want. It’s a blessing.”
